Corona Virus Update

Coronavirus Closure Update | Closed 3/16 through 3/21

At The Bay Ridge School of Music, the health and well-being of our students, families, and teachers are our top priority. We understand the concern and uncertainty you may be experiencing surrounding the coronavirus (COVID-19) and we are committed to being responsive to the needs of our students and teachers.

After serious consideration, we've decided to follow Mayor De Blasio's lead to close our school and move our Spring/April break (which was scheduled for 4/13-4/18) up to this week.  As such, we will be closed Monday 3/16 through Saturday 3/21. The very last thing we want to do is put any of our students, families, or teachers in harm's way.

We are in uncharted territory and the events that are transpiring are unprecedented.  The past few days I have been working closely with our instructors, office staff, students, parents, and our entire BRSOM community, trying to see what the best course of action will be to minimize the effect the situation will have on our community, most importantly our children who may not understand the full extent of what is happening.  The best thing we can do for our kids right now is to ensure they have a routine and while caution is necessary, do not allow ourselves to live in fear and panic, not even for a moment.

I understand there are a lot of questions that many of you have.  We ask that you can bear with us and give us some time during this difficult situation as we use the next few days to regroup with our studio staff and instructors.  We will be sending updates as it comes.

We will plan to reopen on Monday 3/23. You will have the option to attend your lesson in-person or remotely via Zoom or FaceTime.  We also plan to open during our scheduled April Break Closing (4/13-4/18).  Since we run on a 48 week year, there is nothing you need to do regarding the monthly payments.  We have done the same in the past for snowstorms and unforeseen circumstances that require us to close.  For more information, you can click on the calendar button below and the faq button

Here's how you can avoid missing out on your lesson if you are sick or just prefer to stay home.

We offer On-line Zoom Lessons!  It is very easy and user-friendly. You can even record your lesson!
If you are unable to attend a Zoom or Facetime video lesson, we can record a video lesson for you to watch at your convenience.

We are continuing to monitor the situation and will be in close contact.

We hope you all stay healthy and rested!
